🌮 Ramesses The Great
Since it’s about to be Thanksgiving time for us Americans, I’m reminded of when my mom and I took a break from the holiday tradition and decided to drive an hour to Charlotte NC to see the cool Ramesses The Great Egyptian exhibition. I was about 9-ish at the time (every child loves ancient Egypt) and it was just my mom and I - it was a fun time.
I stole this from someone’s Ebay listing.
You know the weirdest part though?
I barely remember the museum stuff. I have little fuzzy blips of seeing the sarcophagus (haha I did not spell that right the first time) and other bits of Egypt trinkets and artefacts. But that’s not my main memory.
My clearest memory of that trip was our Thanksgiving meal.
We ate Twinkies and hot dogs in the car outside of a gas station on Highway 77. Lol. I remember going into the store and picking out something ridiculous to eat, and then laughing and having a good time with my mom joking about how most families were missing out on this awesome experience. It’s honestly a very sweet memory that I always think fondly of.
I’m not suggesting…wait I absolutely am suggesting you do some off-the-wall trip with your family one year (or every year). It’s super cool, you’ll have fun and also unburden yourself from the horror show that is the holiday season. Although I hear some people like to hang around family? Y’all weird.
I’ve managed to create similar fond memories while doing what could have been soulless marketing stuff for the past decade+.
That time I booked someone to do a 45 minute class and they ended up speaking for 12 minutes, so my team and I sent him the most hilarious questions to answer.
Organizing super fun events like hatchet throwing, exotic car racing, rare gun shooting, riverboat gambling cruises and more.
Raising money to complete a sensory room at a children’s hospital halfway around the world.
Even just going the extra mile for a client and them leaving a voicemail about how awesome the experience was.
In this fast-paced world, even making someone stop scrolling to say “hey, that’s cool” is an accomplishment. So strive to be different, stand out, and make those memories in your personal life and your pro life. It’ll pay off.
But before you do all that, go vote.
